1. One Thing That Helps
AI has designed a vaccine, and it has now gone into human arms for the first time. The ambition is big: one shot covering an entire virus family instead of a single strain. Right now we play catch-up every flu season, guessing which strains will dominate, brewing the shot, hoping the virus cooperates. COVID made the lag obvious, with vaccines reformulated repeatedly since 2021. So a University of Cambridge team pointed AI at thousands of sarbecoviruses (SARS, Covid and a range of animal coronaviruses) and asked it to find the features evolution has left largely untouched.
Those features became the vaccine's targets. In the trial, it was safe and well tolerated, and it raised antibodies that could pick out several different sarbecoviruses. The immune response was modest, though, and nobody yet knows how long protection lasts or whether boosters would be needed.
The delivery is the other trick. DNA holds up better than mRNA without a fussy cold chain, and this one goes in through the skin via a high-pressure jet of liquid. No needle at all. A universal vaccine is still a few years and several larger trials away, but whack-a-mole finally has a challenger.
2. One To Be Wary Of
The job market's newest career hack costs about $80 and comes with a candle. Chon Azzopardi-Brown did everything right, polished CV, LinkedIn networking, applications fired into the void, and got nowhere. So she bought a career spell from an Etsy witch. Listings have names like "Extreme Job Spell" and "Powerful Career Spell." You pick your potency, hand over your date of birth and sometimes a photo, and a written readout arrives telling you what to expect and when.
The uncomfortable part is how reasonable this looks from the inside. Kickresume found 58% of recent grads still job hunting, up from 25% in previous years, and applications now disappear into AI screening with no way to tell whether a human ever saw them. Career coach Kyle Elliott figures that when a spell carries roughly the same odds as an online application, hiring is broken!
Maybe people are consulting the occult because the ordinary process is the genuinely mysterious one. An algorithm rejects you, nobody explains why, nobody replies. The witch replies. Eighty dollars buys a three-page document, a timeline and a human who actually read your goals. Desperate times, or just better customer service than the recruiter managed.
3. One To Amaze

The same panel doubles as a display.
You can have licensed lyrics in sync, AI-matched visuals keyed to the genre or the coolest one... Upload a photo through the app and it builds a music-video-style scene around it, which is either a lovely touch or the fastest way to convince your kids you were briefly famous.
Even when silent, it still earns its shelf space, cycling through digital art or just telling the time. Playing, with dual 80W amps behind the glass, it brings back something that disappeared with the album cover and the CD booklet: a reason to look at your music instead of at your phone.
